Sales Tools for Shopify (2026): What Actually Increases Conversion Rates
The tools top Shopify brands use to find their conversion leaks and fix them fast

Get Your Free 7-Figure Product Page Funnel Blueprint
We will map out a complete conversion system for your store and show you exactly how much new revenue it can generate.
Getting traffic to your Shopify store is one problem. Getting that traffic to actually buy is a completely different one. If your sessions are healthy but your conversion rate is low then you need to start questioning your product page.
Somewhere in the experience between landing and checkout customers are leaving your store without making a purchase and without the right tools you are guessing at where this leak is coming from.
This article breaks every tool you need to properly monitor how your pages are performing and the tools you need in order to fix and test each page. We breakdown the CRO tool stack into four distinct layers. When you combine each layer, you get a full CRO stack that enables you to diagnose leaks and quickly build solutions without the help of a developer.
But in order for your stack to work you need to understand what each layer does and what problem they help you solve. Here are the tools that industry leaders like DR. Squash as using today.
66Wait… one more thing
Before you touch any tool answer these three questions first using your existing Shopify dashboard.
What is my conversion rate?
- Below 1% is a hero zone or trust problem.
- Between 1% and 2% is a mid-page or FAQ problem.
- Above 2% and wanting more is a retention or review problem.
Which page has the highest drop-off?
- Product page abandonment is a different problem to checkout abandonment. Know which one you are solving.
Where is my traffic coming from?
- Cold paid social at 0.5% is a different problem to warm email at 0.5%. Your stack should reflect the traffic type you are converting.
67LAYER 1: Analytics

What is happening on your store
Analytics is the foundation everything else is built on. Without clean data you are not doing CRO, you are guessing. Before you install anything new you need to be able to answer three questions from your existing dashboard. Where is my traffic coming from? Which pages have the highest drop-off? Where in the funnel am I losing the most revenue?
The most common problem at this stage is not having no data, it is having dirty data. Email clicks showing as direct traffic. Campaigns that are unattributable. UTM parameters that were never set up. If your GA4 sources look messy, fix that first. We wrote a full guide on how to set up UTM tracking correctly in your email marketing. Get that right before adding anything new to your stack.
Google Analytics 4

What it does: Tracks where visitors come from, what pages they land on, where they drop off, and what your conversion funnel looks like from session to purchase.
Key features:
- Traffic source breakdown
- Conversion funnel tracking
- Landing page performance
- Audience segmentation by device, location, and behavior
- Ecommerce event tracking
Pricing:
- Free: full platform, no paid tier
Good to know: Default setup does not track Shopify ecommerce events properly. You need to configure the GA4 integration or use a tracking app like Elevar to get clean data. Has known attribution gaps for paid media post iOS 14. Non-negotiable baseline for every store.
Littledata

What it does: Fixes the broken tracking between Shopify and GA4 so your analytics data is accurate and complete without relying on the default Shopify integration.
Key features:
- Server side tracking for Shopify events
- Fixes subscription and recurring order tracking
- Sends accurate purchase data to GA4 and Google Ads
- Resolves checkout tracking gaps
- Works with Recharge and other subscription apps
Pricing:
- Starter ($99/mo): up to 1,000 orders per month
- Growth ($249/mo): up to 5,000 orders per month
- Enterprise (custom): unlimited orders
Good to know: If your GA4 data looks wrong or your purchase numbers do not match Shopify, Littledata fixes the root cause. Worth installing before you trust any analytics data for CRO decisions.
Shopify Analytics
What it does: Native dashboard showing your store's sales, conversion rate by traffic source, and basic funnel from sessions to orders.
Key features:
- Conversion rate by traffic source
- Sales by product and variant
- Sessions to checkout to orders funnel
- Real-time sales and visitor data
Pricing:
- Free: included with every Shopify plan
Good to know: Not detailed enough to make CRO decisions on its own. Use it for quick daily health checks alongside GA4.
Microsoft Clarity
What it does: Free behavior analytics tool that gives you heatmaps, session recordings, and rage click detection with no session limits.
Key features:
- Unlimited session recordings
- Heatmaps and scroll maps
- Rage click and dead click detection

Northbeam

What it does: Multi-touch attribution platform that tracks every customer touchpoint across paid and organic channels, giving you a source of truth for where your revenue is actually coming from independent of what the ad platforms report.
Key features:
- Multi-touch attribution across Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, and more

- Enterprise (custom pricing): unlimited ad spend, dedicated support, custom builds
Good to know: Northbeam is built for brands spending heavily across multiple paid channels who need more granular attribution than Triple Whale provides. Best suited for stores doing $5M or more in revenue with significant paid media budgets. If you are under that threshold Triple Whale is the more cost effective starting point.
68LAYER 2: Behavior Analytics
Where and why visitors are dropping off
Analytics tells you which pages are losing visitors. Behavior tools show you what those visitors are actually doing before they leave. This is where you stop looking at numbers and start watching people.
When you first install a behavior tool skip the heatmaps and go straight to session recordings. Filter for visitors who added to cart but did not purchase or spent more than two minutes on your product page without converting. Watch ten of those recordings and you will know more about what is wrong with your page than any spreadsheet will tell you.
Hotjar

What it does: Shows you exactly how visitors interact with your pages through heatmaps, scroll maps, and session recordings so you can see what is causing drop-off.
Key features:
- Click heatmaps
- Scroll maps showing how far visitors get before leaving
- Session recordings of individual visitor journeys
- On-site surveys
- Funnel drop-off analysis
- Form analytics
Pricing:
- Free: 35 sessions per day, basic heatmaps
- Plus($32/mo): 100 daily sessions, full heatmaps, 1 year data storage
- Business($80/mo): 500 daily sessions, full suite including funnels and surveys
- Scale($171/mo): 500+ sessions, advanced features, priority support
Good to know: The free plan is too limited for a store with meaningful traffic. You need at least the Plus plan to get usable session volume. Start by watching recordings on your highest-traffic product page before making any changes.
Lucky Orange
What it does: Behavior analytics built specifically for Shopify with automatic conversion funnel tracking through add to cart and checkout, no setup required.
Key features:
- Dynamic real-time heatmaps
- Session recordings including Shopify Plus checkout

- Expand($49/mo): 35,000 sessions per month

Crazy Egg
What it does: Heatmaps, session recordings, and A/B testing in one tool so you can identify the problem and test the fix without switching platforms.
Key features:
- Click heatmaps and scroll maps
- Confetti view breaking down clicks by traffic source
- Session recordings

- Enterprise($99/mo): 500,000 tracked pageviews, unlimited snapshots, 100 recordings
- Custom: contact for pricing
Free trial: 30 days free on all plans
Good to know: The confetti view showing clicks broken down by traffic source is particularly useful for understanding how paid versus organic visitors behave differently on the same product page. If you want heatmaps and A/B testing in one platform rather than paying for two tools separately, Crazy Egg is the most cost-effective option.
Heap
What it does: Auto-captures every click, scroll, and interaction on your site without needing manual event setup, then lets you analyze behavior retroactively.
Key features:
- Automatic event capture with no tagging required
- Retroactive funnel analysis on data already collected
- Session replays
- User journey mapping
- Shopify integration
Pricing:
- Free plan available for small sites.
- Paid plans start around $3,600 per year.
- Enterprise pricing on request.
Good to know: The auto-capture feature is the main differentiator. Most tools require you to set up tracking before an event is recorded. Heap captures everything first and lets you analyze it later.
Microsoft Clarity
What it does: Free behavior analytics tool that gives you heatmaps, session recordings, and rage click detection with no session limits and no paid tier.
Key features:
- Unlimited session recordings
- Heatmaps and scroll maps
- Rage click and dead click detection
- AI powered session summaries
- Direct GA4 integration
Pricing:
- Free: full platform, no limits, no paid tier
Good to know: The best free tool in the entire CRO stack. Run it alongside whatever paid behaviour tool you use for additional session volume at zero extra cost. The AI session summaries flag problematic recordings automatically so you do not have to watch everything manually.
Mouseflow
What it does: Heatmaps, session recordings, funnel analysis, and form analytics with an automatic friction score that flags sessions where visitors showed signs of frustration.
Key features:
- Heatmaps including click, scroll, move, and attention maps
- Session recordings with frustration tagging
- Friction score that automatically identifies problem sessions
- Form analytics showing which fields cause drop-off
- Funnel analysis with session recording attached to each drop-off point
Pricing:
- Free: 500 recordings per month, 1 website
- Starter ($31/mo): 5,000 recordings per month
- Growth ($55/mo): 15,000 recordings per month
- Business ($110/mo): 50,000 recordings per month
- Pro ($220/mo): 150,000 recordings per month
Good to know: The friction score is the standout feature for CRO. Instead of watching every recording manually Mouseflow automatically surfaces the sessions where visitors showed the most frustration. Start with those and you will find your biggest conversion blockers faster than any other tool in this list.
69LAYER 3: A/B Testing and Experimentation
What changes actually improve conversion
This is the layer most stores add too early. If you are under 10,000 sessions per month on a given page you do not have enough traffic to reach statistical significance in a reasonable timeframe. Running tests on low traffic pages produces unreliable results and gives you false confidence in changes that may not actually be working. Fix your analytics, watch your recordings, and make direct improvements first. Add testing infrastructure when the traffic justifies it.
When you are ready, the process is always the same. You find a page that analytics has flagged as underperforming. You watch session recordings to understand why. You form a single hypothesis. You build one variant that tests that hypothesis. You run it until you reach statistical significance. You roll out the winner and move to the next test. That loop repeated consistently is what separates stores converting at 4% from stores converting at 1.5%.
The one thing every top brand that runs a successful testing program have in common is that they never test more than one variable at a time. One change per test. Always.
Replo
What it does: Shopify landing page and product page builder with built in A/B testing designed for DTC teams that want to build and test entirely new page layouts quickly without developer dependency.
Key features:
- Drag and drop page builder for product pages and landing pages
- Built in A/B testing with revenue tracking
- Template library based on high converting DTC page structures
- Works within Shopify without external code
- Team collaboration tools for agency and in-house teams
Pricing:
- Basic ($99/mo): unlimited pages, core features
- Pro ($249/mo): A/B testing, advanced analytics, team seats
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Good to know: Where Shogun is the established option, Replo is the newer alternative with a stronger focus on DTC brand page structures. If you want to test entirely new product page layouts rather than individual elements, Replo lets you build a complete new page and split test it against your existing one.
Shoplift
What it does: A/B testing tool built natively inside the Shopify theme editor so you can build, launch, and measure tests without touching code or leaving Shopify.
Key features:
- Tests built directly inside the Shopify theme customizer

Convert
What it does: A/B testing and multivariate testing platform for ecommerce teams that want statistically rigorous experiment management and advanced targeting.
Key features:
- A/B, split URL, and multivariate testing
- Visual editor for no-code test creation
- Advanced targeting by traffic source, device, and Shopify data
- Revenue and conversion goal tracking
- Integration with GA4, Hotjar, Lucky Orange, and Klaviyo

- Expert ($499/mo): 1,000,000 tested users, unlimited experiments, 5 websites
- Enterprise (custom pricing): unlimited tested users, dedicated support
Free trial: 15 days free
Good to know: You need a minimum of around 1,000 conversions per month on a given page to get statistically significant results in a reasonable timeframe. If you are under that threshold, use behaviour tools to make direct fixes rather than running tests.
Shogun
What it does: Shopify page builder with built-in A/B testing so you can build, test, and iterate on product pages and landing pages without a developer.
Key features:
- Drag and drop page builder for product and landing pages
- Built-in A/B testing with conversion rate tracking per variant
- Template library for common DTC page structures
- No-code page building within Shopify
- Performance analytics per page
Pricing:
Build ($39/mo): 1 A/B test, 2,000 MTU
Measure ($99/mo): 3 A/B tests, 10,000 MTU, advanced analytics
Advanced ($299/mo): unlimited A/B tests, 50,000 MTU, custom code
Enterprise (custom pricing)
Free trial: 10 days free
Good to know: Best option for Shopify stores that want to test product page layouts without touching code or hiring a developer. If your hypothesis is about page structure rather than copy, Shogun lets you build and test entirely new page layouts quickly.
Visually
What it does: AI powered A/B testing and personalisation platform built for Shopify that lets you test any element of your store including checkout without needing a developer.
Key features:
- No-code visual editor for building variants
- Full funnel testing from homepage through to checkout
- AI generated test suggestions based on your store data
- Personalisation by segment, behaviour, and traffic source
- Price and shipping testing
Pricing:
- Starter ($99/mo): 2 active tests, core features
- Growth ($249/mo): unlimited tests, personalisation, AI suggestions
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Good to know: One of the few tools that lets you test the Shopify checkout without being on Shopify Plus. The AI test suggestions are useful if you are new to testing and not sure where to start.
Intelligems
What it does: A/B testing platform focused specifically on pricing, shipping thresholds, and offer testing rather than page layout so you can find the price and offer combination that maximises profit not just conversion rate.
Key features:
- Price testing across product variants
- Shipping threshold testing such as free shipping at $50 versus $75
- Discount and offer testing
- Profit impact reporting not just conversion rate
- Works at the Shopify checkout level
Pricing:
- Basic ($149/mo): price and content testing, up to 500 orders per month
- Standard ($249/mo): full feature set, up to 1,500 orders per month
- Pro ($499/mo): up to 5,000 orders per month
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Good to know: The only tool on this list that shows you profit impact rather than just conversion rate. A test that lifts conversion by 10% but drops your average order value by 15% is a losing test even though it looks like a win. Intelligems shows you the full picture.
70LAYER 4: Post-Purchase and Retention
Bringing customers back and turning one purchase into many
Most CRO guides stop at the add to cart. This is a mistake.
Getting a customer to buy a second time costs a fraction of what it cost to acquire them in the first place. The stores converting at 4% and above are not just better at turning visitors into first time buyers. They are better at turning first time buyers into repeat customers. That repeat purchase behaviour is what makes the economics of paid acquisition sustainable and what separates brands that grow profitably from brands that grow and then plateau.
Everything in this layer is about what happens after the thank you page. The email that arrives an hour after purchase. The sequence that brings a customer back 30 days later. The review request that turns a happy buyer into social proof that converts the next visitor. These are not marketing nice-to-haves. They are conversion assets that compound over time and every week you do not have them running is revenue you are not recovering.
Klaviyo is non-negotiable here. If you have one takeaway from this entire guide it is that Klaviyo needs to be installed, configured, and actively managed before you spend a single dollar on any other tool in this stack.
Klaviyo
What it does: Email and SMS marketing platform built for ecommerce with deep Shopify integration and behavior-based automation that turns browsing and purchase data into revenue.
Key features:
- Abandoned cart and checkout recovery flows
- Post-purchase sequences driving repeat purchase
- Browse abandonment emails
- Advanced segmentation by purchase history, LTV, and product category
- Revenue attribution per flow and campaign
- Pre-built Shopify flow templates
- SMS and email in one platform
- Predictive analytics for next order date and churn risk
Pricing:
- Free: up to 250 contacts, 500 email sends per month
- Email ($20/mo) scales with contact list size, unlimited sends
- Email and SMS ($35/mo): email plus SMS credits included
- All pricing scales automatically with list size
Good to know: The single highest-return tool in this entire stack for most stores. If you are not recovering abandoned carts and running post-purchase sequences you are leaving revenue on the table every day. Start with the free plan and upgrade as your list grows.
Postscript
What it does: SMS marketing platform built specifically for Shopify with compliance tools, two-way conversation capability, and deep Shopify data integration.
Key features:
- SMS flows triggered by Shopify events
- Abandoned cart and post-purchase SMS sequences
- Keyword opt-in collection
- Two-way SMS conversations
- TCPA and GDPR compliance tools
- Segmentation by Shopify purchase data
- Revenue attribution per campaign and flow
Pricing:
Starter ($100/mo): includes $100 in message credits
Growth ($500/mo): includes $500 in message credits, dedicated support
Enterprise: custom pricing
Good to know: SMS open rates are significantly higher than email which makes it particularly effective for abandoned cart recovery and time-sensitive offers. Build your email programme first then add SMS as a second channel once Klaviyo is running well.
Okendo
What it does: Review and UGC platform for Shopify that automates review collection, displays social proof on product pages, and syndicates to Google Shopping.
Key features:
- Automated post-purchase review request emails
- Photo and video review collection
- Review display widgets for product pages
- Q and A sections on product pages
- Klaviyo integration for review request flows
- Google Shopping review syndication
- Attribute-based review filtering by skin type, age, concern, or any custom attribute
Pricing:
- Essential ($19/mo): up to 200 orders per month, core review features
- Growth ($119/mo): up to 1,500 orders per month, UGC, Q and A, attribute reviews
- Power ($299/mo): up to 3,500 orders per month, advanced analytics, priority support
- Advanced ($499/mo) up to 5,000 orders per month, full feature set
- Enterprise: custom pricing
Free trial: 14 days free
Good to know: Reviews are one of the highest-leverage CRO elements on a product page. Okendo makes collection automatic and the attribute-based filtering lets customers find reviews from people with their specific concern which directly lifts conversion on higher-consideration products.
71What is the best stack for you?
Stack 1: The Bootstrapper
For: Solo founders just starting out, under $500K revenue, little to no CRO budget
You are running the store yourself, traffic is growing but conversions are inconsistent, and you cannot justify paid tools yet. This stack costs nothing and gives you enough data to make real improvements.
- GA4: free baseline analytics
- Shopify Analytics: free, already built in
- Microsoft Clarity: free unlimited session recordings and heatmaps
- Klaviyo: free up to 250 contacts
Monthly cost: $0
Where to start: Install Microsoft Clarity and watch ten session recordings on your product page this week. That is your entire CRO programme right now. Everything else can wait.
Stack 2: The Growing Brand
For: Stores doing $500K to $2M, running paid ads on one or two channels, small team
You have traffic, you are spending on ads, and you need to understand why your conversion rate is not keeping up with your spend. You can justify a small monthly investment in tools that pay for themselves quickly.
- GA4: free
- Shopify Analytics: free
- Lucky Orange ($19/mo): session recordings and automatic Shopify funnel tracking
- Klaviyo ($20/mo): abandoned cart and post-purchase flows
- Okendo ($19/mo): review collection and display
Monthly cost: approximately $58/mo
Where to start: Set up Klaviyo abandoned cart flow first. It is the fastest revenue recovery you will find anywhere in this stack. Then install Lucky Orange and watch recordings on your product page while the email revenue starts coming in.
Stack 3: The Scaling Store
For: Stores doing $2M to $5M, running paid across Meta and Google, starting to think about testing
You are spending meaningfully on paid acquisition and you need to know which channel is actually driving profitable revenue. You also have enough traffic to start a basic testing programme. The stack gets more sophisticated here but every tool has a clear job.
- GA4: free
- Shopify Analytics: free
- Littledata ($99/mo): fixes Shopify to GA4 tracking so your data is accurate
- Lucky Orange ($32/mo): behaviour analytics and funnel tracking
- Klaviyo ($60/mo estimated): email and SMS flows
- Okendo ($119/mo): reviews and UGC
- Shoplift ($99/mo): A/B testing inside the Shopify theme editor
Monthly cost: approximately $409/mo
Where to start: Fix your tracking with Littledata before anything else. Dirty data in GA4 means every decision you make from this stack is built on a flawed foundation. Get the data clean, then move to behaviour, then start testing.
Stack 4: The Data Driven Operator
For: Stores doing $5M to $15M, multi-channel paid media, dedicated marketing hire or small team
You are running ads across Meta, Google, and TikTok. You need accurate cross-channel attribution, a structured testing programme, and retention systems that are actively managed rather than just set and forgotten. At this stage the tools pay for themselves many times over if they are actually being used.
- GA4: free
- Shopify Analytics: free
- Triple Whale ($129/mo): cross-channel attribution and profit dashboard
- Hotjar ($80/mo): heatmaps, session recordings, and on-site surveys
- Klaviyo ($150/mo estimated): advanced segmentation, flows, and SMS
- Okendo ($299/mo): full UGC and review programme
- Convert ($199/mo): statistically rigorous A/B testing
- KNO Post Purchase Surveys ($50/mo): customer reported attribution data
Monthly cost: approximately $907/mo
Where to start: Triple Whale and clean attribution first. Once you can see exactly which channel and creative is driving profitable revenue you will immediately know where to focus CRO efforts. Then build your testing pipeline using Convert with hypotheses informed by Hotjar recordings and KNO survey responses.
Stack 5: The Performance Brand
For: Stores doing $15M plus, in-house marketing team, serious paid media budget, running a continuous testing programme
You have a team, meaningful ad spend across every major platform, and CRO is an ongoing operational function rather than a project you do once. Every tool at this level earns its place through measurable revenue impact and your testing program never stops.
- GA4: free
- Shopify Analytics: free
- Northbeam ($299/mo): granular multi-touch attribution across all channels
- Triple Whale ($279/mo): creative analytics and profit dashboard alongside Northbeam
- Hotjar ($171/mo): behaviour analytics at scale
- VWO ($499/mo): behaviour analytics and testing unified in one platform
- Klaviyo ($400/mo estimated): fully managed email and SMS programme
- Postscript ($100/mo): SMS as a dedicated channel
- Okendo ($499/mo): full review and UGC programme with Google Shopping syndication
- Intelligems ($249/mo): pricing and offer testing alongside layout testing
- Fairing ($149/mo): post purchase survey attribution to fill pixel gaps
Monthly cost: approximately $2,645/mo
Where to start: At this level you should already have most of these running. If you are coming to this stack fresh the priority order is attribution first, then behaviour, then retention, then testing. The testing programme only produces compounding returns when attribution is clean and retention is working. Build those foundations before scaling test velocity.
Steps to improve your conversion rate
The brands converting at 4% and above are not using more tools than you. They are using the right tools in the right order and actually acting on what those tools tell them. A $58 per month stack that you use every week will outperform a $2,000 per month stack that nobody looks at.
Start with the layer that matches where you are right now. Get it working. Then add the next one.
Layer 1: Analytics
GA4 and Shopify Analytics from day one. Add Triple Whale when you are running paid media across multiple channels and need accurate attribution.
Layer 2: Behavior
Start with Lucky Orange or Hotjar on your highest-traffic product pages. Watch session recordings before you change anything on the page.
Layer 3: Testing
Only add Convert or Shogun once you have the traffic volume to run meaningful tests. Under 10,000 monthly sessions on a page, skip testing and make direct fixes based on what your behaviour tools are showing you.
Layer 4: Retention
Klaviyo from day one. Okendo as soon as you have enough post-purchase volume to build a review base. Postscript when email is performing and you want SMS as a second recovery channel.
Build the stack in layers. Use each one to inform the next. Do not run A/B tests on a page you have not watched session recordings on. Do not optimise your retention emails before your product page is converting. The order is the strategy.
